If you have used other social apps, a few things here will feel unusual — on purpose. This guide is less a list of buttons and more an explanation of why MemoCove is shaped the way it is, so the unusual parts start to make sense. What makes it different, and why
Most social apps are designed to keep you scrolling and to reward whoever performs best. MemoCove is designed to be quiet. A handful of choices are the heart of the product — and each one is a decision about how you should feel while using it:
- No popularity game. There are no likes, no reposts, and no public scores, because the moment a number is attached to a post, sharing turns into performance. We leave the number off so you can post a blurry photo of your lunch without wondering how it “did.”
- No algorithm. Your timelines are simply in time order, newest first. Nothing is reordered to maximize engagement, and your own posts — not an endless feed of strangers — are home. You decide what to open; the app does not decide for you.
- Follower counts are private. Only you can see how many people follow you, and nobody — not even you — sees a list of who they are. There are no milestones to chase and no audience to manage, so there is nothing to optimize.
- Gentle limits, on purpose. There is a cap on how many people you can follow, and the Free plan has quiet daily limits on posting and commenting. They exist to keep the space calm and intentional rather than a place to broadcast — see followers and the 500 cap and the plans section of the account guide. Most people never notice a limit at all.
- Fast, even offline. On your phone, MemoCove keeps a copy of what you have seen on the device, so it opens instantly and works on a patchy connection, then quietly catches up when you are back online. That is both a comfort and a privacy choice — read offline & your data.
How the pieces fit together
Everything in MemoCove starts from a post — a short note with optional photos or a video — and a single, important decision: who gets to see it. From there, the other features are just ways your posts reach the right people, and ways you stay in control:
- Posts & visibility — choose Public, Group only, or Private for every post, add a place or an @mention if you like, and change the audience later.
- Groups — small, members-only spaces. A group never owns your posts; you simply include a post in it.
- Following & timelines — follow people to see their public posts, in plain time order.
- Comments — conversation on a post, with the author able to tidy it at any time.
- Notifications — only for the things that involve you, never a nudge to come back.
