No ads, and as little data as possible
MemoCove does not show ads and does not sell your personal information. That single fact removes the usual reason an app collects everything it can — so MemoCove collects only what it needs to run, adds no analytics or tracking kits of its own, and treats your private and group posts as private. There is no advertising business quietly watching what you share in order to target you. The one exception is on Android: the QR code scanner uses Google’s ML Kit, which sends Google basic diagnostics about how the scanner performs.
Why your media links expire
When you view a photo or video on MemoCove, the app fetches it through a short-lived link that is granted to you for a little while and then stops working — rather than living at a permanent, public web address. It is a small detail with a big consequence: a permanent public URL can be copied, shared, and reached by anyone who finds it, long after the fact. A short-lived link can’t. So your Group-only and Private media stays genuinely tied to who is allowed to see it, not leaked the moment a link escapes.
What happens to a photo you upload
When you add a photo, MemoCove tidies it up on the way in: formats like HEIC are converted to a widely readable type, and very large images are scaled down to a sensible size. That re-encoding also drops the hidden metadata a camera tucks into a photo file — the location where it was taken, the device, the exact time — so none of it is stored with your post. Videos are compressed on your phone before they ever leave it. This keeps the app fast and your media light to load — and it means what gets stored is a clean, predictable copy, not whatever your camera happened to produce.
Places and your location
Adding a place to a post is always your choice. The app asks for your location only when you tap Location in the composer, uses it just to suggest places nearby, and never tracks you in the background. If you attach a place, its name and a map link are shown to everyone who can see the post — so a place on a Public post is public, and a place on a Private post is yours alone. A place can’t be removed after posting except by deleting the post, so choose it as deliberately as you choose the audience.
