Blocking & reporting

You hold the controls first: block anyone you'd rather not deal with, and report anything that breaks the rules.

MemoCove puts safety tools in your hands first. You don’t have to wait for anyone to act — you can remove someone from your experience yourself, instantly, and flag anything that crosses a line for the moderation team to review.

Blocking someone

Use the menu on a post, comment, or profile to block a person. Blocking takes effect immediately: you won’t see their posts or comments, and they won’t see yours. You can review and undo your blocks at any time under Blocked accounts — in Settings on your phone, or on the Me page on the web — so a block is never a permanent, scary decision; it’s just a quiet way to step apart.

Two honest details: blocking doesn’t change who follows whom, and inside a group you both belong to, members still see each other’s group posts — a group is a shared room. If that’s a problem, you can leave the group or ask one of its admins to step in.

Why blocks are mutual — and invisible

A block in MemoCove is mutual and opaque. Mutual means it cuts both ways at once: neither of you appears in the other’s app. Opaque means no one is told — the person you block gets no notification and sees no “you’ve been blocked” sign; your content simply isn’t there for them anymore.

Both choices are deliberate and on your side. A one-directional block would still let the other person watch you; making it mutual closes that gap. And telling someone they’ve been blocked tends to invite retaliation or a new account — so MemoCove keeps it silent, which is almost always safer for the person doing the blocking.

Reporting content

If a post, comment, account, or group breaks the Community Guidelines, you can report it from the same menu (for a group, from its settings). Pick what’s wrong — spam, harassment or bullying, hate speech, sexual or explicit content, violence or threats, self-harm, misinformation, or something else — and add a note if it helps. Reports are confidential: the person you report is never told who reported them. Reporting is separate from blocking — you might do one, the other, or both — and you can keep using MemoCove normally while the report is reviewed.

What moderators do

Reports go to a moderation team that reviews them in confidence and can remove content or, in serious cases, suspend an account. A suspended account can no longer sign in, and its content is hidden from everyone; the account holder is emailed and can write to support@memocove.com if they believe a mistake was made. The aim is a space that stays kind without turning into surveillance: most of the time you keep yourself safe with a block, and moderators step in for the things that affect everyone. For the formal rules and how your data is handled, see the Community Guidelines and Privacy Policy.
