How they reach you, and why so gently
Notifications wait for you inside the app: a small unread dot appears (on the Me tab on your phone, beside Notifications on the web) — never a number to clear — and the items are there when you open it. On your phone they can also arrive as push notifications. MemoCove asks for permission once, the first time you sign in, and the choice is yours; you can change it any time in your phone’s notification settings.
Every notification is about something that involves you. MemoCove never sends marketing pushes, “you haven’t posted lately” nudges, or anything engineered to pull you back. A couple of the gentler notices — when a post of yours is taken out of a group, or you’re removed from one — arrive silently, without a sound.
What you’re notified about
- Comments on your posts, replies to your comments, and @mentions of you.
- Invitations — to join a group, or to follow someone who invited you past their follower cap — and a note when someone accepts an invitation you sent.
- New posts in your groups (you can turn these down per group — see below).
- Changes in your groups — if you’re removed from a group, one of your posts is taken out of it, a group is deleted, or a group is handed over to you.
- For owners and admins: when someone joins their group, and which admin removed a member or a post.
Invitations you can act on in place
Invitations are interactive: a group invite or follow invite lets you accept or ignore it right from the notification, without navigating away or hunting through settings. The point is to make the decision the easy part — you see who is inviting you and what to, and you answer in one tap. Ignoring is private; only an acceptance is passed back to the person who invited you.
Honest notices when something is removed
If an admin takes one of your posts out of a group, or removes you from a group, you are told — plainly, and without blame: “Your post was removed from” the group, rather than being left to wonder why a post vanished. The notice doesn’t single out which admin acted; the other admins can see that, so the group stays accountable to itself. MemoCove would rather be honest about these moments than hide them, so the space stays transparent and no one is quietly disappeared.
Turning notices down
Group post notices are opt-out: open a group’s settings and switch off Notify me about new posts to stop hearing about new posts there while staying a full member. This is for the busy group you still want to read on your own schedule. The notifications that involve you directly — comments, replies, mentions, invitations — stay on, because those are the ones meant for you. To silence push notifications entirely, use your phone’s notification settings for MemoCove; the in-app inbox keeps working either way, and on iPhone the app icon shows how many notices are waiting.
